Bubbles, the chimpanzee who became world-famous as Michael Jackson’s longtime companion, is now living a peaceful life far from the spotlight.
Born in 1983, Bubbles is now 43 years old and resides at the Center for Great Apes sanctuary in Florida. During Michael Jackson’s career, he traveled around the world with the pop icon and appeared at numerous public events, becoming one of the most recognizable animals associated with the singer.
As Bubbles grew older and stronger, experts determined that it was no longer safe for him to live in a domestic environment. He was eventually relocated to the sanctuary, where he could receive specialized care and live among other chimpanzees.
Today, Bubbles spends his days in a safe and natural setting, enjoying a calm life surrounded by fellow apes and cared for by wildlife professionals—far removed from the fame and attention that once defined his early years.
